The Fray

Raw Hem Top: Easel via Marti and Liz Shoes. Denim: Marshalls. Shoes: Steve Madden via Burlington Coat Factory. Sunnies: Rayban via Belk.
All Images: Kimberly Greene

these days I'm all about fray detailing! fraying also most commonly known as a raw hem can be found on lots of denim styles, and structured pieces like this button down blouse. I love how it can add just the right amount of edge and character to such a simple and staple piece. these are my favorite pair of skinnys that I scored from Marshalls awhile back. I actually didn't buy these pair with the raw hem detailing on the bottom but it was a quick and easy DIY that I plan on sharing soon on the blog.
my raw hem button down top is a recent purchase that I can't wait to style for Fall with jeans and a cute pair of booties.  Recently, a little bit of a cold front came through Charlotte and it got me all exciting for Fall fashion and all the things involving my favorite season. I love the boyfriend fit of this top and you guys also know I love a good stripe! are ya'll fans of the whole raw hem/fray trend? let me know in the comments section below!

Stars & Stripes

Striped Navy Top: Zara. Patchwork Raw Hem Denim: Marshalls. Navy New Balances: Off Broadway Shoes similar found here. White Crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff via Nordstrom Rack.

All Photos: Kimberly Greene

I'll forever and always be a fan of minimalistic stripes. They are just so simple but make any simple outfit pop. I was clearly inspired by the upcoming holiday weekend in my choice of styling this outfit with navy hues, and a nice red lip. Can we talk about these statement earrings?! They are one of my favorite pieces of jewelry from the new Baublebar Sugarfix line at Target. This new line has a statement piece for everyone. From tassels, to chokers to intricately beaded designs- you will not be disappointed. The price point is another one of the reasons I'm a huge fan of this collaboration and collection at Target. You can get cute, trendy pieces without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

I'm not normally one to be found in sneakers, but the whole athleisure trend is changing the game and changing my mind about being comfortable yet fashionable at the same time. I scored these New Balance's last Fall from Off Broadway shoes, but I love how versatile the color is-easily transitioning to my Spring and Summer wardrobe. I used to own a pair of these exact same New Balances in grey in Middle School so every time I wear them, it brings back feelings of nostalgia.

This outfit is perfect for chill MDW plans like a cookout, a day at the theme park, or just hanging out with friends. I'm super excited to have some time off from work to rest, relax and spend time with friends and family. What do you guys have planned for the weekend?

Gingham + Overalls

This week was a whirlwind- in a good way! If you follow me on Instagram, or keep up with me in Instastories then you know that I was featured on Julianne Hough's website talking about 3 of my favorite places here in Charlotte, NC. My sister and I also had the opportunity to attend her Move Live Tour, and even got to meet/hang out with her after the show. I'm still in shock and disbelief about it all!
Blogging has afforded me so many amazing opportunities and open doors, and I'm so thankful and appreciative of all of the awesome ways that the Lord continues to open doors for my passion. I owe Him everything. It's also just been reassuring and encouraging to keep pushing and walking in my purpose. There are plenty of days when find myself comparing, I question my purpose, or don't really see how everything will pan out but the Lord keeps showing me that we don't always have to see the big picture. We are called to simply trust and have faith that the steps we take walking in our passion and purpose do not go unnoticed.
I say all of that, just to encourage anyone reading this post. If you've been debating starting your own blog, just do it! It's overwhelming at first, but He will walk with you through it all. Giving you all that you need to complete the work that he has started within you.
I wore this super cute, casual outfit for my shoot and I love everything about it. The overall jumper brings back feelings of nostalgia, and I may or may not have worn it 3 times over the first week of purchasing it. This gingham ruffle sleeve top is a SheIn find! The quality of the shirt is impeccable, and I got it for next to nothing. I paired the jumper and shirt with these white espadrilles that I've been raving about all Spring.
My full post of Charlotte favorites can be found here. Also, if the Move Live Tour is coming to a city near you, you have to go! The show is amazing from start to finish. Julianne and Derek Hough are SO talented, and perform with so much passion. I love how real and genuine they both are despite their fame. They have such a great appreciation and respect for all of their fans. And when I say all, I mean every.single.one. Tour dates can be found here.

Stripes X Embroidery

I seriously cannot believe we are already half-way through April and that Easter is THIS Sunday. How crazy that we are almost half-way through the year! Easter, or as I would like to call it...Resurrection Sunday is always such a nostalgic, and traditional time of year for me. It reminds me of all the countless Easter's as a little girl when I would look forward to picking out the perfect dress, and shoes and deciding on the perfect hairstyle to go with my whole look. I was THAT girl. I guess that's what happens when you are raised in the South, and the Bible Belt at that. It's interesting to look back over the years and observe how much the holiday and its meaning has changed for me personally.
As I've grown into an adult, I have adopted my own spiritual life and love for the Lord, so this day isn't so much about finding the perfect outfit, but more of acknowledging God's perfect and relentless love towards me and you. That doesn't mean that I don't get a little excited about buying a new outfit to wear for the day. The holiday has come to be a time of reflection, and all day worshipping my Lord and Savior who loved me, and you so much that he laid down His own life. I also enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, eating and laughing and enjoying one anothers company-just thankful!
The cold shoulder trend is one that I have expressed my love for before, and I can't stop won't stop! I love this striped and embroidered dress from the Who What Wear Collection at Target. It's perfect for church, brunch or afternoon Sunday Funday activities with the fam. What are your plans for the holiday weekend?

Gingham Style

Gingham Top: Asos found below. Madewell Jeans: Nordstrom Rack. White Espadrilles: Burlington Coat Factory. Gray Handbag: Marshalls

All Photos: Kimberly Greene

Last week, I shared my love for the embroidery trend on the blog which you can find here, but this week it's all about gingham. I'm naturally drawn to prints, so it's no surprise that I'm all about this simple, classic print as of lately. I love how minimal looking the print is, and how you can find the style in multiple colors and silhouettes! From peplum tops like the one I'm wearing above, to dresses, skirts and even accessories. This is another style that screams Summer, with its light, playful, and flirty nature. I kept my look casual, my pairing this peplum top with my new Madewell jeans I scored from Nordstrom Rack for only $20!! Still in shock about snagging such a steal. These white espadrilles are going to be my casual go-to this season, when I want to dress up a look but still keep it casual. I've shared some of my favorite gingham items below- Happy Shopping!

I'm in love, and my closet has become full with this light, summery shade of blue. I can't wait to share more looks with you guys.

Spring Tunes

Tunic: KK Bloom Boutique found here. Remainder of look- similar pieces can be shopped below!

I'm definitely having coffee on coffee on coffee from staying up late to watch The Grammys last night.  Did you guys watch?! The whole show was absolutely amazing. I"m a huge fan of James Corden, Adele and Chance the Rapper and the whole night was jammed packed with all three so I was and still am on Cloud 9- especially with Adele taking home Album of the Year.
Chance the Rapper is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! He won 2 Grammys last night- and his whole album is literally perfection- I've had it on repeat for the past month. Def a fan.

Okay, on to the real reason why you stopped by. This whole outfit- which was perfect for the Spring temps we experienced here in the Queen City.

Seems about right that Spring temps start to get woven into the weather pattern around these parts. Just one of many things I love about living in the South. Although I'm a tad confused, as it's still early February- I am not complaining. Dressing for warmer temps can be difficult. I always opt for a cute pair of denim and a lighter layer up top. When it's warmer like this on some days, it's always so awkward in taking that giant leap in rocking full on Spring threads so I get the frustration. This striped tunic from KK Bloom is perfect for transitioning into Spring weather and can also be worn for winter and fall with a cute pair of olive joggers and ankle booties/loafer slides. Pieces like these are a must have staple in your closet. I'm linking this exact one above- you're welcome! Happy Monday loves! Hope it's a productive one.

Blush x Fringe-Casual Valentines Day

Sunnies: Target. Blush Pink Oneie: Nordstrom Rack. Fringe Duster: Marshalls. Dark Wash High-Rise Flare Denim: Old Navy. Shoes: Belk. Grey Minibag: Marshalls.

This post is for all the ladies who aren't trying to get all fancy schmancy this Valentines Day. Don't get me wrong, I love any chance I get to play dress up but, I'd opt for a casual fit on any day. This outfit is perfect for a casual Valentines brunch date, or Galentines GNO. Fitted high-wasited flares- 3 words. YOU.NEED.THEM. Comfort and style all in one place, and the dark wash goes with most of my favorite sweaters I currently have on rotation. I paired my dark wash denim, with this soft blush onesie that I scored during the clear the rack sale after Christmas and this Moon River fringe duster from Marshalls is literally what Boho dreams are made of.  What do you ladies have planned for Valentines Day?

#GOALS

"Great Things Have Never Come From Comfort Zones" Wall Art: Marshalls. "Work It" Marble Printed Notebook: Marshalls. 2017 Marble Printed Planner: Marshalls. Marble Printed IPhone 7 Case: Rebecca Minkoff via Amazon found here.

Happy New Year, loves! I hope that each of you enjoyed ringing in the new year with the ones you love. I mentioned in my last post of 2016 found here, that 2016 was the first time I put together a list of New Year's goals and successfully managed to cross a couple of them off of my list. I also mentioned that this was something I wanted to do at the start of every year.

Last year some of my goals included paying off credit card debt, (I worked part-time at Hayden Olivia Bridal Boutique and was able to pay off both my credit cards), completing a 2 week sugar detox (I completed the Whole 30 challenge, and you can read about my results and journey here), save to buy a new DSLR camera and lens (haven't bought a new camera yet, but was able to buy a new lens at the end of last year), and there were a couple others that will transfer into this year since I was not able to get to them last year! Below are some of my goals for 2017:

  1. Travel More! There is nothing I love more than exploring a new city with unique people, food and culture. Last year, I made the sacrifice to put traveling on hold in order to meet some financial goals and I'm excited to have a little bit of financial freedom and explore some US states I've never been to. I have my first trip booked for 2017, and will be heading out mid January to explore a place I've always wanted to visit. Stay tuned to find out where that is!
  2. Become better at sticking to my monthly budget- Last year, I started reading Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and it had me super motivated to become debt-free! I just recently downloaded the Every Dollar App which is supposed to help keep track of your expenses as you stick to your monthly budget. You can find the link to download the app here.
  3. Save More!
  4. Revamp the Blog- this was a goal I had for last year that I wasn't able to get to- but that's okay. I will be making steps within the next coming months to revamp the visual aesthetic of the blog and to make it easier for all of my followers to shop my looks.
  5. Take a photography class- Photography is a hobby I took up a couple of years ago. I absolutely love it and have been "self-taught" up until now. I want to learn the technique as well as explore aspects of photography that I'm not familiar with. I've heard great things about the Skill Pop classes here in Charlotte, and I'm going to make it a point to take their photography class and maybe a couple of blogging classes.

These are just a couple of the goals I have for 2017. I love having a list to keep me focused, intentional and positive as I go through the New Year. What are some of your goals for the New Year? I'd love to hear them! Please share below.

Velvet X Metallic

Pleated Perforated Metallic Skater Skirt: Sam Edelman from Belk found here or similar found here. Velvet V-Illusion Onesie: Marshalls similar found here and here. Grey Tassel Earrings: H&M similar found here. Lace Up Suede Tassel Heels: Marc Fischer via Belk found here. Grey Mini Bag with Pom Pom Charm: Marshalls similar found here.

It's crazy to even think 2016 is 2 days away from being over. I always love this time of year, as its much often a time spent resting, reflecting and preparing to enter into a new season of life. 2016 was a year filled with many challenges and closed doors as well as exciting opportunities and self-realizations. This was actually the first year that I made an effort to type out my New Years' "Resolutions" and I actually managed to successfully cross a couple off of my list. This is definitely a tradition I am going to keep going for myself to help maintain focus and intentionality within my day to day.

As I get older, I want every part of my life to hold meaning and purpose. My purpose ultimately rests in being a vessel for the Lord, and doing what I do in my professional life as well as in my hobbies all to give him honor and praise. There are so many new and exciting adventures that I want to embark on in the new year, and I find myself thinking "how in the world is this going to happen?!" but the still small voice of the Lord always keeps me anchored in hope and faith. I trust and believe that only the absolute best is yet to come and that it won't come too soon nor will it come too late. His promises will be right on time, and perfect in every way. I'm excited for my purpose to continue to unfold within my personal life, my professional life as well as my blog. I'm so appreciative to all of you who have followed along on my journey so far. I plan on being a lot more consistent, and intentional with providing the best content for you guys so I hope that you will stick around!

I'm closing out 2016 with this super chic New Year's Eve outfit that has to be one of my favorites to date. I bought this metallic skater skirt almost 2 summers ago and never managed to find the time to wear it until now! It's the perfect festive piece to have in your closet for an anniversary date, birthday, Christmas party or New Year's Eve i.e. this post. I paired it with a comfortable velvet onesie from Marshalls with a sexy V-neck illusion neckline and my favorite Marc Fisher lace up tassel sandals as the weather has been quite warm as of lately. I kept the festive vibe going with my sparkly, gray tassel earrings from H&M and the cutest of cutest minibags from Marshalls.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!
