Fa La La Mens Look for Less

Olive Green Sweater: Old Navy. Gingham Button Down Shirt: Old Navy. Gray Scarf: Old Navy. Mens Khaki Pants: Old Navy. Shoes: Ben Sherman.

It's finally the most wonderful time of the year!! I absolutely love the hustle and bustle of the holidays. The Christmas parties, the nostalgic tunes, the movies, sweet treats and cozy winter nights. There is not a time of the year that I love more than Christmas time. With the holiday season comes the pressure of putting together different holiday looks for company parties or holiday photos. I personally like to start adding these pieces to my wardrobe long before December just to ease the pressure and stress of finding something to wear at the last minute.
Mens style isn't something that I chat about a lot here on the blog, but mens style is so dapper, and timeless when done right! I had the pleasure of styling my dad on today's post inspired by mens looks from Bonobos. They are the perfect mens brand to reference when it comes to what's trending. They also have stylish pieces that won't break the bank! I love finding inspiration around me and recreating those same looks for less. I was able to gather together my inspiration and also now have my eyes on a couple of  pieces to gift for the holidays.
My dads look features pieces that were all under $40 and are completely re-wearable even after the holidays done. I will say that that is one thing I like to keep in mind when filling my closet with pieces for this time of year. I always want to get my fair share out of every piece of clothing I invest it. You can easily shop my dad's whole look below for your boyfriend, fiance, husband or brother! This look is perfect for a casual office Christmas party, or for family photos. The key here is all about layering, and adding touches of holiday color like the pops of gingham. I styled this olive colored sweater (olive is totally trending right now !!) with this gingham button down shirt, casual khaki pants, a cozy grey scarf and these Ben Sherman shoes. Styling this look was so much fun, and effortless  because his style is already on point! There isn't a thing I would change about my dads style. He wears what speaks to him, and doesn't care what anyone thinks! His style is unique and representative of his sense of humor and personality.

How do you prepare your closet for the holidays?

Pumped Up Kicks

Jean Overall Jumper: Forever 21. Puffy Sleeve White Blouse: Forever 21. Embroidered Tennis Shoes: Traffic Shoes found here. Crossbody: The Frye Company.

Photos by: Kimberly Greene

Statement shoes are definitely having a moment this Fall season. From embroidered mules, to my new found favorite, embroidered tennis shoes. I will be completely honest and admit that less than 5% of my shoe closet are tennis shoes and the other 95% are heels. Working a 8-5 in Corporate America doesn't really lend itself to comfortable shoes, but whenever I can get my hand on a pair as cute as these white, embroidered tennis shoes its a complete game changer. Being a lover of fashion, I'm constantly scrolling through my Instagram feed for outfit inspiration and staying up late on Pinterest pinning fashion trends that I can put my own spin on. Wearing tennis shoes with dresses is currently a trend statement I've been seeing everywhere and couldn't wait to try.
I paired this overall jean jumper dress with a statement poplin sleeve white top and my Frye crossbody which is perfect for Fall. These statement shoes gifted to me by the team at Traffic Shoes were the perfect way to make this outfit trendy and chic. I cannot wait to style these adorable shoes with some of my Fall sweaters that I FINALLY get to wear. Can't wait to share with all of you! Meanwhile, I'll just be over here breathing in all the Fall crisp air, drinking Trader Joe's Pumpkin spice coffee, and slipping on my booties because, I do believe that Fall has arrived.

The Fray

Raw Hem Top: Easel via Marti and Liz Shoes. Denim: Marshalls. Shoes: Steve Madden via Burlington Coat Factory. Sunnies: Rayban via Belk.
All Images: Kimberly Greene

these days I'm all about fray detailing! fraying also most commonly known as a raw hem can be found on lots of denim styles, and structured pieces like this button down blouse. I love how it can add just the right amount of edge and character to such a simple and staple piece. these are my favorite pair of skinnys that I scored from Marshalls awhile back. I actually didn't buy these pair with the raw hem detailing on the bottom but it was a quick and easy DIY that I plan on sharing soon on the blog.
my raw hem button down top is a recent purchase that I can't wait to style for Fall with jeans and a cute pair of booties.  Recently, a little bit of a cold front came through Charlotte and it got me all exciting for Fall fashion and all the things involving my favorite season. I love the boyfriend fit of this top and you guys also know I love a good stripe! are ya'll fans of the whole raw hem/fray trend? let me know in the comments section below!

Gingham + Overalls

This week was a whirlwind- in a good way! If you follow me on Instagram, or keep up with me in Instastories then you know that I was featured on Julianne Hough's website talking about 3 of my favorite places here in Charlotte, NC. My sister and I also had the opportunity to attend her Move Live Tour, and even got to meet/hang out with her after the show. I'm still in shock and disbelief about it all!
Blogging has afforded me so many amazing opportunities and open doors, and I'm so thankful and appreciative of all of the awesome ways that the Lord continues to open doors for my passion. I owe Him everything. It's also just been reassuring and encouraging to keep pushing and walking in my purpose. There are plenty of days when find myself comparing, I question my purpose, or don't really see how everything will pan out but the Lord keeps showing me that we don't always have to see the big picture. We are called to simply trust and have faith that the steps we take walking in our passion and purpose do not go unnoticed.
I say all of that, just to encourage anyone reading this post. If you've been debating starting your own blog, just do it! It's overwhelming at first, but He will walk with you through it all. Giving you all that you need to complete the work that he has started within you.
I wore this super cute, casual outfit for my shoot and I love everything about it. The overall jumper brings back feelings of nostalgia, and I may or may not have worn it 3 times over the first week of purchasing it. This gingham ruffle sleeve top is a SheIn find! The quality of the shirt is impeccable, and I got it for next to nothing. I paired the jumper and shirt with these white espadrilles that I've been raving about all Spring.
My full post of Charlotte favorites can be found here. Also, if the Move Live Tour is coming to a city near you, you have to go! The show is amazing from start to finish. Julianne and Derek Hough are SO talented, and perform with so much passion. I love how real and genuine they both are despite their fame. They have such a great appreciation and respect for all of their fans. And when I say all, I mean every.single.one. Tour dates can be found here.

It's crazy to even think 2016 is 2 days away from being over. I always love this time of year, as its much often a time spent resting, reflecting and preparing to enter into a new season of life. 2016 was a year filled with many challenges and closed doors as well as exciting opportunities and self-realizations. This was actually the first year that I made an effort to type out my New Years' "Resolutions" and I actually managed to successfully cross a couple off of my list. This is definitely a tradition I am going to keep going for myself to help maintain focus and intentionality within my day to day.

As I get older, I want every part of my life to hold meaning and purpose. My purpose ultimately rests in being a vessel for the Lord, and doing what I do in my professional life as well as in my hobbies all to give him honor and praise. There are so many new and exciting adventures that I want to embark on in the new year, and I find myself thinking "how in the world is this going to happen?!" but the still small voice of the Lord always keeps me anchored in hope and faith. I trust and believe that only the absolute best is yet to come and that it won't come too soon nor will it come too late. His promises will be right on time, and perfect in every way. I'm excited for my purpose to continue to unfold within my personal life, my professional life as well as my blog. I'm so appreciative to all of you who have followed along on my journey so far. I plan on being a lot more consistent, and intentional with providing the best content for you guys so I hope that you will stick around!

I'm closing out 2016 with this super chic New Year's Eve outfit that has to be one of my favorites to date. I bought this metallic skater skirt almost 2 summers ago and never managed to find the time to wear it until now! It's the perfect festive piece to have in your closet for an anniversary date, birthday, Christmas party or New Year's Eve i.e. this post. I paired it with a comfortable velvet onesie from Marshalls with a sexy V-neck illusion neckline and my favorite Marc Fisher lace up tassel sandals as the weather has been quite warm as of lately. I kept the festive vibe going with my sparkly, gray tassel earrings from H&M and the cutest of cutest minibags from Marshalls.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Waisted

High-Waisted Denim: Marshalls. Shoes: Steve Madden found here. Stripped Body Suit: Burlington. Tassel Earrings: H&M

You are probably looking at these pictures and think I'm absolutely crazy to be wearing denim in the hot, sticky temperatures we've been experiencing lately buttt how in the world could I not pass up a great pair of high-waisted denim. I am especially looking forward to wearing this staple piece throughout fall and winter- which can you believe Fall is literally right around the corner?!

High-waisted denim makes me feel instantly more thin, and sexy. Being that I'm already on the shorter side, I chose to pair this look with my favorite pair of chunky, Steve Madden peep toe heels. I love how this stripped bodysuit goes so well with how simple and chic this whole fit is. What pieces have you started adding to your wardrobe for Fall?

Natural

The natural scenery during spring and summer has to be one of my favorite things about the warmer months. That, and eating watermelon on the porch while reading a good book! Spring and Summer in North Carolina are the absolute best...the southerly breeze and clear blue skies during the day and the warm summer, star-filled nights are pure perfection.

As the days warm up, I have the freedom to get back into my wash n go natural hair routine without risking getting a cold! This is my go-to hairstyle on the weekends when the humidity is unbearable, and when I don't want to spend hours straightening my hair just for it to poof back up. This past weekend was cloudy and rainy, and it was super quick to do my normal wash routine, add some of the products I love and just go. My favorite products are from the Shea Moisture line. I've  been natural for almost 3 years now and, have over my natural hair journey become more and more confident in my curls and have learned to feel beautiful in my natural skin. I'll be doing a blog post about the products I use in the future so stay tuned!

This outfit is perfect for both work, church and play. Mustard yellow is one of my favorite natural hues- there is just nothing like it! And chambray is a basic staple that will be sure to go with any and every piece you own in your closet. I've been wearing these Marc Fischer lace up heels with all of my spring outfits and felt like my dollars were well spent adding them to my wardrobe. I promise you'll feel the same way! What are some of your favorite things about the spring/summer season?

Chambray + Aztec

Chambray Shift Dress: Old Navy. Earrings: H&M. Shoes: Marc Fisher via Belk found here. Bag: Tory Burch via Nordstrom Rack. Watch:  Guess. Bangles: Old Navy.

Much like classic black and white style (if you missed Wednesday's post check it out here) I don't think chambray is anywhere close to leaving the runways this Spring or going out of style any time soon. Chambray, a lighter version of denim with the same type of look is a great piece to have whether it be a button down top, a romper, or a shift dress like the one I scooped up from Old Navy a couple of weeks ago. Not to mention that I got it for a major steal...try $9. Yep, pretty much makes my life when I'm willing to take on the jungle of clothes that blew up in the clearance section of Old Navy and find pieces like this . It's worth it ladies I'm telling you! It just takes a little bit of patience and the will to walk out of the store with a great deal! There is nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you saved tons of money on a piece you'll be sure to wear over and over again for the next couple of months to a year.

Classic

Top: Marshalls. White Denim: Marshalls. Bag: Marshalls. Earrings: H&M.

There is nothing quite like a classic, crisp pair of white denim or finding an outfit for under $50. Marshalls you just get me. Always have and always will! I love that white denim in my opinion, surpasses all season rules and can be worn in summer, spring, fall and winter. I definitely plan on getting my fair wear out of them, so don't act surprised if they make another appearance on the blog. The fit is absolutely perfect, and I love the distressed effect which gives them a little edge- easily allowing you to take these to a night on the town look. I paired my white denim with this black and white top- I absolutely love the delicate, embroidered detailing. I always feel like tops like these are so unique, and hard to come so it's always an easy yes!

Cozy

Sweater Dress is SOLD OUT but similar here. OTK Boots via Belk- they are old but similar here. Coat: Nordstrom Rack. Sunnies: Old Navy.

Early mornings have never been my favorite, and early, cold mornings legitimately are the worst things next to CROCS. I know I can't be the only one who would rather stay under the covers for a couple of hours as soon as my alarm clock sounds. Since the temps have dropped, and I guess it's officially winter? the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to getting dressed for the work day is wearing something warm and cozy because 1.) I hate being cold and 2.) I hate being cold. I love the simplicity of this knit sweater dress from Old Navy. When I initially wore this dress for work, I went with a shorter boot to make it more corporate friendly. However, for this particular look, I edged it up a bit with these Sam Edelman over the knee boots. I hope over the knee boots never go out of style because I'm always a fan of a little bit of sass!

Marble

Shoes: Aldo currently ON SALE here. Dress via Target found here. Leather Motto: Old via Forever 21. Beanie: Marshalls similar here, here and here

NORTH CAROOOLINAAAA COME ON AND RAISE UP! *in my best Petey Pablo voice* lol it's Monday and if you haven't heard- the Carolina Panthers are officially on their way to Super Bowl 50!! All of Charlotte was absolute mayhem last night as the Panthers clinched the NFC Championship Title. I'm still on a high and that's probably the only thing getting me through this Monday!

I guess that's enough sports talk, well...for now at least. Let's get to what you really came for. I love everything about this Target marble print scuba drop waist dress. The pastel tones are absolute winter perfection, and the fit is simply to die for. Whoever invented scuba material- I THANK YOU *insert emoji praise hands* I've been obsessed with these Aldo booties that my sister got me for Christmas. What's not to love about a chic, sleek black bootie with a metallic heel? And, ladies their currently on sale for under $100! You definitely need them in your life - trust me on this one :)

I hope you all have a fabulous Monday and #GoPanthers!
