MDW Style

Striped  Blue & White Smock Dress: Marshalls. White Mules: Target. Straw Clutch: Target. Heart Sunglasses: Amazon.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Hopefully you have had a relaxing and fun weekend with friends and family.  I had a little staycation here in Charlotte, and it was much needed! I'm so excited for the start of summer time...for weekend trips to the coast, endless cups of gelato, and summer sunsets. There is just something about summer sunsets that feels so serene and perfect. Ever since last summer, blue & white shades have been staples in my wardrobe. I especially love this blue & white piece because of the smock detailing. It's so vintage, flirty and light for the warm temps. I paired this super cute dress with my new Target Who What Wear mules which I scored on clearance at my local Target for under $25. I had been eyeing these shoes since I saw them at the start of Spring. Thankfully I waited and they finally went on sale! Don't you love when that happens? Also, can we please talk about this straw clutch with tassel detailing? It's so perfect for summer and is super affordable! Trust me when I say that you'll be grabbing for this guy on the regular- the perfect bag for summer. How are you guys celebrating the long weekend? What are you most looking forward to this Summer?

Warp + Weft Denim Review

Ruffled White Top: Marshalls. Denim via Warp+Weft found here. Shoes via Nordstrom Rack linked below. Bag via Amazon found here.

Finding great quality denim at a reasonable price is such a struggle. I don't know about you but denim is such a staple piece to have and be able to throw on; and to dress up or down. I always buy cheaper brands, and then end up disappointed when they stretch after the first wear- not cute! Warp + Weft Denim was kind enough to send me two pairs to try out, and you guys I'M OBSESSED. I'm 100% sold on this brand and want to share with you guys why I love them so much!

1.)  Warp + Weft denim is a brand conscious of size inclusivity, and makes denim for all body types. There is a piece for everyone which in and of itself is such a comforting feeling as a consumer. It feels good to know that you can shop and find something just for you and that you were considered throughout the whole design process.
2.) All of their denim is under $100! Denim is something I'm willing to splurge on, and under $100 isn't bad at all! Especially for amazing quality.
3.) The fit and stretch makes you look and feel like a rockstar. I love that the specific pair I'm wearing here (The Palm Springs Crop Boot Cut; fun fact: all of the jeans are named after an international airport-so cool, right?!) are high-waisted and distressed which are two of my favorite details in jeans.

All in all I'm impressed with this brand, and the way these jeans make me feel- so confident, chic and carefree! Believe me when I say you need them in your life.

Blush x Fringe-Casual Valentines Day

Sunnies: Target. Blush Pink Oneie: Nordstrom Rack. Fringe Duster: Marshalls. Dark Wash High-Rise Flare Denim: Old Navy. Shoes: Belk. Grey Minibag: Marshalls.

This post is for all the ladies who aren't trying to get all fancy schmancy this Valentines Day. Don't get me wrong, I love any chance I get to play dress up but, I'd opt for a casual fit on any day. This outfit is perfect for a casual Valentines brunch date, or Galentines GNO. Fitted high-wasited flares- 3 words. YOU.NEED.THEM. Comfort and style all in one place, and the dark wash goes with most of my favorite sweaters I currently have on rotation. I paired my dark wash denim, with this soft blush onesie that I scored during the clear the rack sale after Christmas and this Moon River fringe duster from Marshalls is literally what Boho dreams are made of.  What do you ladies have planned for Valentines Day?

It's crazy to even think 2016 is 2 days away from being over. I always love this time of year, as its much often a time spent resting, reflecting and preparing to enter into a new season of life. 2016 was a year filled with many challenges and closed doors as well as exciting opportunities and self-realizations. This was actually the first year that I made an effort to type out my New Years' "Resolutions" and I actually managed to successfully cross a couple off of my list. This is definitely a tradition I am going to keep going for myself to help maintain focus and intentionality within my day to day.

As I get older, I want every part of my life to hold meaning and purpose. My purpose ultimately rests in being a vessel for the Lord, and doing what I do in my professional life as well as in my hobbies all to give him honor and praise. There are so many new and exciting adventures that I want to embark on in the new year, and I find myself thinking "how in the world is this going to happen?!" but the still small voice of the Lord always keeps me anchored in hope and faith. I trust and believe that only the absolute best is yet to come and that it won't come too soon nor will it come too late. His promises will be right on time, and perfect in every way. I'm excited for my purpose to continue to unfold within my personal life, my professional life as well as my blog. I'm so appreciative to all of you who have followed along on my journey so far. I plan on being a lot more consistent, and intentional with providing the best content for you guys so I hope that you will stick around!

I'm closing out 2016 with this super chic New Year's Eve outfit that has to be one of my favorites to date. I bought this metallic skater skirt almost 2 summers ago and never managed to find the time to wear it until now! It's the perfect festive piece to have in your closet for an anniversary date, birthday, Christmas party or New Year's Eve i.e. this post. I paired it with a comfortable velvet onesie from Marshalls with a sexy V-neck illusion neckline and my favorite Marc Fisher lace up tassel sandals as the weather has been quite warm as of lately. I kept the festive vibe going with my sparkly, gray tassel earrings from H&M and the cutest of cutest minibags from Marshalls.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

The Caftan Dress

Dress: H&M found here. Shoes: Steve Madden via Burlington Coat Factory similar found here.

I know I can't be the only one having serious FOMO looking at all of the Instagram stories, snapchats and posts of NYFW. Ahhh, its my dream to one day make it to the concrete jungle and play an active part in New York Fashion week. I love everything I have seen on the runways and seeing all of the Spring shows has me inspired to start changing out my summer wardrobe for fall. One thing I love about a good summer piece, is that it can be transitional into the cooler temps like this palm fronds/floral print Caftan dress from H&M. Seriously, all of the heart eyes. I love the long sleeves, that make it that much more of a transitional fall piece. I can't wait to pair it with my blush pink motto jacket that I styled here. It's still pretty warm here in Charlotte...who am I kidding?! It's hot as hades like every single day, but I have my fingers crossed that cooler weather is right around the corner.

Waisted

High-Waisted Denim: Marshalls. Shoes: Steve Madden found here. Stripped Body Suit: Burlington. Tassel Earrings: H&M

You are probably looking at these pictures and think I'm absolutely crazy to be wearing denim in the hot, sticky temperatures we've been experiencing lately buttt how in the world could I not pass up a great pair of high-waisted denim. I am especially looking forward to wearing this staple piece throughout fall and winter- which can you believe Fall is literally right around the corner?!

High-waisted denim makes me feel instantly more thin, and sexy. Being that I'm already on the shorter side, I chose to pair this look with my favorite pair of chunky, Steve Madden peep toe heels. I love how this stripped bodysuit goes so well with how simple and chic this whole fit is. What pieces have you started adding to your wardrobe for Fall?

Cold Shoulder

Dress: Marshalls. Lace Up Heels: Marc Fisher  via Belk. Bag: Marshalls. Tassel Earrings: H&M.

I'm clearly obsessed with little white dresses this summer. Sorry, not sorry! I have been clinging to clean whites, and natural hues this summer which sounds kind of basic, but sometimes simplicity in your everyday style is key. I love how crisp, fresh and lightweight this cold shoulder number is- it's so perfect for summer and the blue embroidered detail is perfect for this weekend's 4th of July festivities. I paired this flowy Free People like dress with my Marc Fisher lace up heels and my favorite tassel earrings. Not to mention that I snagged this dress for a steal at my favorite place ever! Marshalls! for only...$20!

Can you guys believe we are already in July?! Where does the time go? Seriously! I'll be spending this 4th of July weekend celebrating my great grandmothers 99th birthday, and grilling/hanging out by the pool with friends. Do you guys  have plans for the holiday?

#Accessorize

Shoes: Steve Madden similar found here. Bag: Tory Burch via Nordstrom Rack. Skirt: Forever 21 found here. Chambray Top: Loft found here. Sunnies: Francesca's similar here

Happy Sunday! I cannot believe that the weekend is already coming to a close- don't they always go by so fast?! I had a pretty eventful weekend, and it started off just the way I like it...a trip to the mall for a little bit errr maybe a lot a bit of shopping! I've partnered with Concord Mills to bring you the cutest case of the blues! I mean, isn't everything about this fit to die for? Concord Mills has some of the best shopping right here in the Charlotte area- there are ton of different retailers to choose from and they all offer this year's Spring trends of Metallics, Florals, Stripes and Cobalt for affordable prices! Now through May 31st, Concord Mills will hold their first Accessorize Your Spring sale month long event where you can shop for this springs trends and save up to 70% off! If you guys have been following me for some time, then you know that I love a good deal.

Chambray is such classic staple piece and is so worth the investment. It can be dressed up, dressed down or even paired with your favorite pair of denim to create a chic Canadian Tuxedo- which bee tee dubs, that's just fancy terms for denim on denim ;) I decided to pair my soft, chambray top with this stripped midi skirt from Forever 21. The material is lightweight, which will be perfect for the humid, North Carolina temps headed our way soon. I finished my look with a pop of metallic. These Steve Madden Rose Gold platforms give the whole outfit a little bit of edge, not to mention they're super comfortable and under $60. This Spring, metallics are the perfect neutral to give your outfit a pop of uniqueness. These shoes literally go with everything, so I'm warning you now that I'll be a repeat shoe offender for the months to come. Lastly, these nude rounded sunnies are the perfect touch of 70s flare.

If you're in or from the Charlotte area, make your way to Concord Mills before it's too late to save BIG on all of my favorite spring trends!

Happy Shopping :)

Natural

The natural scenery during spring and summer has to be one of my favorite things about the warmer months. That, and eating watermelon on the porch while reading a good book! Spring and Summer in North Carolina are the absolute best...the southerly breeze and clear blue skies during the day and the warm summer, star-filled nights are pure perfection.

As the days warm up, I have the freedom to get back into my wash n go natural hair routine without risking getting a cold! This is my go-to hairstyle on the weekends when the humidity is unbearable, and when I don't want to spend hours straightening my hair just for it to poof back up. This past weekend was cloudy and rainy, and it was super quick to do my normal wash routine, add some of the products I love and just go. My favorite products are from the Shea Moisture line. I've  been natural for almost 3 years now and, have over my natural hair journey become more and more confident in my curls and have learned to feel beautiful in my natural skin. I'll be doing a blog post about the products I use in the future so stay tuned!

This outfit is perfect for both work, church and play. Mustard yellow is one of my favorite natural hues- there is just nothing like it! And chambray is a basic staple that will be sure to go with any and every piece you own in your closet. I've been wearing these Marc Fischer lace up heels with all of my spring outfits and felt like my dollars were well spent adding them to my wardrobe. I promise you'll feel the same way! What are some of your favorite things about the spring/summer season?

Cold Shoulder

Denim Midi Skirt: Free People via Belk similar found here. Off the Shoulder Top: Everly via Belk found here. Lace Up Shoes: Marc Fischer via Belk found here. Bag: Tory Burch via Nordstrom Rack. Sunnies: Target. Tassel Earrings: H&M similar found here.

I've never minded being on the shorter side (if anyone was wondering I'm around 5'1ish) I mean everything cute comes in smaller packages ;) am I right or am I right? Although I've never been self-conscious about being on the shorter, more petite side...finding the perfect pair of jeans and skirts can sometimes be a bit of struggle. If you're short like me, we can hop on board the struggle bus together!
I'm usually drawn toward fitted midi skirts, and I'm not gonna lie picking up this Free People skirt on the hanger I didn't think it would do anything for my figure. I was sure that it would swallow me, but I was pleasantly surprised. Side Note: One thing I've learned while shopping and styling is to never judge a piece of clothing on the hanger...you'd be surprised what gems you find when you actually give them a try. I'm also not opposed to spending that extra few minutes the fitting room. I love the way this skirt hugs the right places but billows out at the bottom. It's the perfect fit and flare and gives me the seventies vibe which is all the rage this season. I paired my denim midi with this lightweight off the shoulder top- which OMG, give me all the off the shoulder tops and tassel earrings! Seriously...I'm obsessed. These are by far my favorite pair of statement earrings that I own. They are so much fun and easily go with most of my spring/summer wardrobe! I love that tassels are here to stay for a while and I'll definitely be adding more flirty, delicate off the shoulder tops to my wardrobe.

Cozy

Sweater Dress is SOLD OUT but similar here. OTK Boots via Belk- they are old but similar here. Coat: Nordstrom Rack. Sunnies: Old Navy.

Early mornings have never been my favorite, and early, cold mornings legitimately are the worst things next to CROCS. I know I can't be the only one who would rather stay under the covers for a couple of hours as soon as my alarm clock sounds. Since the temps have dropped, and I guess it's officially winter? the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to getting dressed for the work day is wearing something warm and cozy because 1.) I hate being cold and 2.) I hate being cold. I love the simplicity of this knit sweater dress from Old Navy. When I initially wore this dress for work, I went with a shorter boot to make it more corporate friendly. However, for this particular look, I edged it up a bit with these Sam Edelman over the knee boots. I hope over the knee boots never go out of style because I'm always a fan of a little bit of sass!
