The Fray

Raw Hem Top: Easel via Marti and Liz Shoes. Denim: Marshalls. Shoes: Steve Madden via Burlington Coat Factory. Sunnies: Rayban via Belk.
All Images: Kimberly Greene

these days I'm all about fray detailing! fraying also most commonly known as a raw hem can be found on lots of denim styles, and structured pieces like this button down blouse. I love how it can add just the right amount of edge and character to such a simple and staple piece. these are my favorite pair of skinnys that I scored from Marshalls awhile back. I actually didn't buy these pair with the raw hem detailing on the bottom but it was a quick and easy DIY that I plan on sharing soon on the blog.
my raw hem button down top is a recent purchase that I can't wait to style for Fall with jeans and a cute pair of booties.  Recently, a little bit of a cold front came through Charlotte and it got me all exciting for Fall fashion and all the things involving my favorite season. I love the boyfriend fit of this top and you guys also know I love a good stripe! are ya'll fans of the whole raw hem/fray trend? let me know in the comments section below!

Gingham Style

Gingham Top: Asos found below. Madewell Jeans: Nordstrom Rack. White Espadrilles: Burlington Coat Factory. Gray Handbag: Marshalls

All Photos: Kimberly Greene

Last week, I shared my love for the embroidery trend on the blog which you can find here, but this week it's all about gingham. I'm naturally drawn to prints, so it's no surprise that I'm all about this simple, classic print as of lately. I love how minimal looking the print is, and how you can find the style in multiple colors and silhouettes! From peplum tops like the one I'm wearing above, to dresses, skirts and even accessories. This is another style that screams Summer, with its light, playful, and flirty nature. I kept my look casual, my pairing this peplum top with my new Madewell jeans I scored from Nordstrom Rack for only $20!! Still in shock about snagging such a steal. These white espadrilles are going to be my casual go-to this season, when I want to dress up a look but still keep it casual. I've shared some of my favorite gingham items below- Happy Shopping!

I'm coming at you this hump day currently snuggled up in bed fighting what seems to be a mixture of a cold/allergies and the up and down temps certainly aren't helping! But, the silver lining of it all is I've spent the whole day watching Bravo and catching up on sleep. Sometimes, all your body needs is a little dose of R&R.

I'm dreaming of warmer days and starting to make my list of Spring must haves. Lots and lots of florals are definitely at the top of my list. Florals scream Spring, and there is just something about this floral bomber and polka dot ascot combo that gives me a French/European vibe- which fun fact about me, my name is actually French and I was also born in Germany as my dad served in the military. I haven't been back since being born overseas and obviously don't remember a whole lot but this outfit would be perfect for having a fancy latte at a little French bakery.

The bomber jacket was a huge trend during the Fall, and continues to remain a statement piece for Spring. It's the perfect, lightweight layer to have in your closet for cold mornings, and warmer evenings.

If you are looking for the way to make a statement this Spring its all about florals and embroidery. It's so boho chic! I can't wait to share with you guys the cutest, floral and embroidered mules I just scored from Belk. What trends are you most excited for, for Spring?

Happy Friday, friends! We made it through yet another week. And I'm so grateful! I'm looking forward to some much needed rest and relaxation. Thank the Lord for the invention of weekends. For renewing your mind, body and soul and just being. I don't think I really began to treasure and understand the importance of weekends until recently.

I mentioned in a previous post earlier this year, that I was working every Saturday for a local bridal boutique on top of my full-time job in corporate retail to pay off some debt quicker. While I enjoyed helping beautiful brides to be find their perfect gown, the rest my body needed was essential for me to give my all to my full time job and to this little corner of the internet. I'm thankful to the Lord for lessons learned and for provision in my efforts to financially set myself straight. I've been living for the 2 days of the week that I get to myself. When I get to decide if I want to wake up early for cycling, or just sleep in or if I want to spend the night drinking wine and laughing with friends. So, cheers to the weekend!

I have been sticking to light layering these days and I especially love a good striped top. I picked up both this quarter length striped Who What Wear top and velvet spaghetti strap  top the other week at Target on clearance. I couldn't say no to the simplicity of the striped top, an easy workwear piece and casual too. I also thought that this velvet piece would be a great addition to my wardrobe for this year's holiday season as I don't see the velvet trend going away any time soon. I am loving how all of the trends are bringing me back to the 90s and my middle school days- the nostalgia *hashtag all the heart eyes*

What are some of your favorite weekend leisure activities?

Layers + Loafers

JouJou Suede Moto Jacket: Marshalls. Camel Turtleneck: Marshalls. Light Wash Distressed Denim:Marshalls. Unisa Slip-On Tassel Loafers: Ross Dress for Less. Grey Minibag: Marshalls.
All Photos: Kimberly Greene.
I have been dying to get my hands on the perfect pair of slip on loafers. I've seen them everywhere- fashion magazines, the runways, street style on Insta- you name it! I knew that it was well passed time to finally pull the trigger and buy a pair for myself...of course, within my price range.

I originally had my eyes set on a pair of black slip on Steve Madden loafers. Black just seemed so sleek and chic. However, these neutral Unisa loafers from Ross Dress for Less are just as good for more than half the price you would expect to pay. Shout out to my little sister Danielle who came in the clutch with sending me a picture of these beauties while she was out shopping. I have her to thank for this fabulous find! If you're reading this- thanks Danielle!

These loafers go with everything in my wardrobe, and are the perfect color for the Spring temps that we have been experiencing these past couple of weekends. Not to mention the fact that they were only $25! Such a steal. If yall have been reading and following along for awhile then you know I love finding a good deal.

I styled these slip-ons with a couple of my favorite layering pieces as the temps had cooled down on Sunday when I was shooting. I love this cozy, camel turtleneck from Marshalls, and this suede motto jacket also from Marshalls which is such a great piece!! I went with light-washed denim to balance out my neutral combo. I'm so excited to have these loafers in my Spring shoe rotation. What are some pieces you are dying to get your hands on this Spring? Feel free to share in the comment box below!

Velvet VDay Crush

Velvet Black Choker Top: Marshalls. KanCan Denim: Marshalls. Lace Up Wedges: Marc  Fisher via DSW Shoes. Sunglasses: Rayban via Belk.

Happy Valentines Day, loves! If you're down to the wire and staring into your closet with "nothing to wear"- fret no more! When all else fails, sleek and chic black pieces are my go to. Whether its a detailed black top, or the perfectly fitted black bottoms- you can never go wrong with black. I especially love this velvet choker top I scored from Marshalls just before the holidays last year. It's 100% 90's and so on trend. I paired this top with my favorite pair of lightly washed, distressed denim and lace up Marc Fisher wedges. Simple, easy and chic outfit with pieces that can easily be found in your closet! Enjoy the day!

Sayonara Summer?

Off the Shoulder Top: Romwe found here.Choker Necklace: Belk. Distressed White Denim: Marshalls. Mules: Dolce Vita via Belk similar found here. Sunnies: Quay Australia via Marshalls

Hi there!! Sorry it's been a minute since I've posted any outfit inspiration. The past couple months have been a bit of a whirlwind- simply put...being a twenty-something can sometimes have you all feeling like "what the heck am I doing with my life?! Where was the Life 101 course in college?! Ha!
Now onto more important things, like this super, cute Marigold off-the-shoulder top I scored for under $15 found here. I am loving the fact that the cold shoulder trend is carrying over into the fall season just because there is something so simple, yet chic and feminine about bare shoulders. Although this outfit might scream summer to you, the marigold hue of the blouse is perfect for fall, and lets be honest- who is actually following the "no white after Labor Day rule" umm clearly not me! Also, I have been living in these Dolce Vita mules which are perfect for these indecisive temps. How are you wearing the cold shoulder trend for Fall?

70s Flare

I am loving the re-invention of the 70's trend. The bell bottoms, bell sleeves, fringe, platforms, retro sunnies and modest swimsuits and necklines are giving me so much life! This summer smock, and sunnies remind me of everything about 70's fashion. All I need is a little bit more Farrah Faucet flip and I'll be good! I love the high neckline, and gingham pattern of this dress- it's perfect for a Saturday picnic, brunch with the girls, or some summer fun in the city. Also, the price tag gave me all the heart eyes at just $17!

There are 4 different ways to incorporate the 70's remix trend into your wardrobe. First, invest in a pair of slim fit perfectly belled, bell bottoms or culottes. This is such a chic and sophisticated look and I'm so glad that it's making it's reappearance as a casual piece or a workwear piece. Since the weather will be getting warmer as the months go on, stick to lighter weight fabrics when it comes to finding this perfect piece. Second, incorporate fringe in small doses. There are plenty of cute fringe, gladiator sandals, crossbodies with fringe detail, and fringed denim is huge now but with fringe it's easy to over do it. Be selective in what you choose to be your staple fringe piece for an outfit. A little bit goes a long way with. Third, platform shoes! Nothing says 70's like the platform shoe. The height of these shoes range, but no matter the highness of the shoe, these are the most comfortable pair of "heels" I've worn in a while. I could wear these Steve Madden Rose Gold platforms for hours and not even think twice about it. This purchase was so worth it. Fourth, a pair of rounded, retro sunnies are an inexpensive way to give your look some 70's flare.

What do you guys think of the 70's trend? Leave me your thoughts in the comment section below!

Classic

Top: Marshalls. White Denim: Marshalls. Bag: Marshalls. Earrings: H&M.

There is nothing quite like a classic, crisp pair of white denim or finding an outfit for under $50. Marshalls you just get me. Always have and always will! I love that white denim in my opinion, surpasses all season rules and can be worn in summer, spring, fall and winter. I definitely plan on getting my fair wear out of them, so don't act surprised if they make another appearance on the blog. The fit is absolutely perfect, and I love the distressed effect which gives them a little edge- easily allowing you to take these to a night on the town look. I paired my white denim with this black and white top- I absolutely love the delicate, embroidered detailing. I always feel like tops like these are so unique, and hard to come so it's always an easy yes!

Basically Basic

Shoes: Sam Edelman via Belk. Distressed Denim: Belk. Bag: Marshalls. White Tee: Old Navy. Vest: Belk.

Never underestimate the power of a basic white tee, and sticking to neutrals for a casual spring look! My love for minimalistic, neutral tones has grown over the years. This look is simple, chic, and sophisticated all in one. And, major bonus that every piece I'm wearing is under $60. If you're having trouble building basics for your wardrobe, my go-tos are always Old Navy, the Gap, and sometimes even Marshalls to pull together my closet staples. I'm absolutely in love with this khaki, trench style vest from Belk simply because layering is the perfect way to make a smooth transition into this warmer weather. I'm super excited for this glorious weather and the fact that starting Sunday (don't forget to Spring forward!) there will still be a trace of sunlight left when leaving work. It's the little things :) What are some of your favorite closet staples?
