White Tee

Tribal Print Skirt: Target. Shoes: Jessica Simpson Julez Heels via Off Broadway Shoes. Clutch: Ross Dress for Less. Watch: Michael Kors. White Top: Guess. Sunglasses: Platos Closet

You've been forewarned before about my love for prints! I just can't help myself. And, I definitely couldn't say no to this tribal inspired print that I snatched up at my local Target earlier this spring. I'd been contemplating what exactly to pair it with. I debated a crop top with the same pattern since 2 piece sets are all the rage this season, but that wasn't quite the look that I had envisioned. This light weight, white blouse was the perfect top. I almost forgot how important it is to have basics, like a plain white tee. I like to keep my basic colors in V-necks for a go-to casual look, or it's nice to have collard tops in your basic colors to give you that crisp, pulled together look. What I love about this white top from Guess, is that it isn't too stiff and boring. The material is extremely light-weight, soft and relaxed. I could easily get away with pairing this top with so many other fits, which is the great thing about basics. So, moral of the story always, always, always! keep basic tees, and camisoles as a part of your wardrobe ;) Enjoy your Thursday loves!

LBS

Crop Top Screen Tee: Forever 21. Cut-Off Shorts: American Eagle. Black, Strappy Heels: Candies. Necklace: Old. Clutch: Ross Dress for Less. Bangles: Target.

Am I wrong for assuming that every girl out there has that perfect, go-to LBD (little black dress) hidden away in the corner of her closet?, you know that one knock-out dress that's tucked away for those special occasions with the beau or as a very last resort wedding dress? Wellll if you don't own a LBD, I'm almost certain you have to own a cute pair of LBS (little black shoes.) I probably own way more pairs of black strappy sandals than is considered normal, but these have to be one of my favorites! They hug my little feet just perfectly, and they give this little shorty a good couple inches of height. Ha! A pair of little black shoes is just as essential as having the perfect, little black dress. When picking out my heels, I always keep comfort, versatility, price, quality and of course, style in mind. What do you guys look for when purchasing your heels? I pairedthese edgy black heels with my jean cutoffs, and rocker crop-top, muscle tee...which y'all know I love so much. I bought this tee a couple weeks ago for the Justin Timberlake concert, which was absolutely PHENOMENAL. Love me some JT. This look is perfect for summer concerts. It's a mix between sophisticated, and edgy. I think the floral kimono gives it a little bit of a boho chic touch, which I'm definitely a fan of. What concerts have you guys gone to this summer?

More of YOU Mondays: You Don't Have to Try

I stumbled across this video yesterday, and it's probably hands down, one of the most moving music videos I've seen in awhile. As if I didn't love Colbie Calliat enough already, her transparency and authenticity portrayed through these lyrics and visuals make me admire her even more . I love that this video represents a common social stigma that all females struggle with. The struggle of not accepting ourselves as enough, and constantly trying to amount to the world's standards and perception of beauty. We want to be accepted. And, we not only want to look and feel beautiful but we want to be told that we're beautiful.

Today's society has totally warped our minds and our thought life. There are a lot of us who are consumed with trying to attain something that we are not, something that we were never made to be and that can be overwhelming and exhausting. Each of you are made beautiful in your own way. There is no one else on this entire earth like you. No one with your smile, with your hair, your laugh and the list goes on. Embrace what makes you different, and what makes you you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! Psalm 139: 14 says:

 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
    you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
    Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
    I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
    you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
    how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
    all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
    before I’d even lived one day.

You don't have to try. Your beauty comes from the inner peace of accepting yourself, and loving yourself the way that no one else can. So stop letting society define who you are, and how you see yourself when you look into the mirror. Fiercely love yourself first, and your beauty will shine from the inside out.
