Hareem Pants & Hoodies

Ahhh it's finally THURSDAY! One day closer to the weekend. Thank goodness! I've been slammed this week with getting acclimated with my new job which I started last Thursday. So far its been great! My first couple of days were a little overwhelming, but overall this week has been great. Getting back into the swing of things has me more than ready for the weekend. And, my boyfriend is coming into town! So I'm super excited for a fun, relaxing weekend in the city.

Today's outfit inspiration is following the latest sporty chic trend. I was inspired by Trina over at The BabyShopaholic. If you guys haven't checked out her blog you need to head on over! Her and her daughter are the most adorable fashionistas and Trina's Mamanista Fridays are sure to give you some outfit and style inspiration.

The new, sporty chic trend is basically a compilation of comfortable, athletic wear meets chic. I would have never in a million years put this look together, but that's what happens when you're creative, on a budget and inspired by other fabulous fashion bloggers!

Hareem pants are probably the next best thing to leggings! Let me tell you! They are so comfy, have an elastic waistband (cause let's be honest, who doesn't love an elastic waistband?! lol) and they can be dressed up or down. Best. thing. ever! I've been overly obsessive over Aztec prints so when I laid my eyes on these babies, I was SOLD.
I paired the printed Hareem pants with a tourquoise hoodie from Marshalls, and a studded distressed denim vest to give it that sporty chic vibe. A hoodie and denim vest is now one of my go to's for my "Saturday running errands" outfit just because it's easy and comfortable but you still look put together. I'm always running into someone I know, even in a city like Charlotte, lol so I have to always be on my A game.
To complete my sporty chic look, I added  a classic pair of nude pumps. A simple touch of class and elegance goes a long way, especially with this outfit. I feel and look laid back, however the heels give my outfit some versatility. I could throw this on and make a quick Target run, or could even rock this look on a casual, chill Sunday brunch date. The options are endless.
Turquoise Hoodie: Marshalls. Studded, distressed Denim Vest: JCPenny. Aztec Hareem Pants: Marshalls. Nude Pumps: Marshalls.
To be completely honest, I wasn't sure how I was feeling about the trend but now that I've made it my own, its one of my new favorites. Pairing a baseball cap with a plaid button down and some leather leggings is another way you can try the sporty chic trend. Or, you could also put together a varsity jacket with a cute little beanie. Have fun with it and make it your own!

How do you guys feel about the new sporty chic trend? Would you rock this look?

More of YOU Mondays!- Pure Beauty

Hey heyy! How was everyones weekend? This weekend it was really nice in Charlotte! Like roll down all of the windows, and turn up the music nice. We hit a high of 68 degrees yesterday and it was absolute heaven. I so wish it would just go ahead and be spring! I'm beyond ready for warmer temps and longer days. Mainly, I'm just ready to throw on a cute, bright maxi dress and call it a day! Spring/summer fashion is so easy and effortless. Anyways! Back to More of YOU Mondays!...

Since this is a beauty/fashion blog and all, today I'm talking about beauty. Not the front cover of Glamour magazine type of beauty, not the Beyonce I woke up like this beauty lol none of that. But, the pure creative beauty that we are all capable of owning and sharing with everyone around us. Beauty means something different to each of us. What you classify as beautiful may completely be different from what I think is beautiful. I think that's one of the many things that is so beautiful about beauty. As much as society tries to bombard us with their ideas of beauty, there is no set standard.

As women, we naturally want to look and feel beautiful. It gives us confidence in our daily interactions, and also gives us confidence in the individuals that we are. Sometimes beauty is what we use to impress others, but most of the time we long for the feeling to be beautiful for our own sake. For the sake of feeling confident and bold in who we are. Because, like you've heard many times before- when you look good, you feel good!

But, its not all about the external fluff (the hair, the makeup, the clothes, the Botox lol, the toning, the tightening, etc.) However, it has EVERYTHING to do with your personal attitude, behavior, and in turn your actions. You can have the prettiest face in the world, and a bangin body but have the stankest personality and you would be LOSING.

The definition of pure beauty is embodying a selfless, kind hearted attitude, where uplifting others makes you radiate with joy and happiness. Your attitude is contagious and your humbleness becomes the most attractive thing about who you are! This is the kind of beauty which we should be seeking out. A beauty that will never fade, sag or wrinkle.

Today, I challenge you to create an internal, lasting beauty in the way you think, act and behave. It's all up to you!

5 min.Quick & Easy Beauty Routine

Today I'm letting you in on a little on of my secrets! A 5 min quick and easy beauty routine, yes those do exist! LOL.  This is for all those on-the-go mommies or for those college students with an 8 am class who just want a few extra minutes to sleep in. I remember those days all too well! This is my go to for the days when I'm just out running errands and want to look natural but more of a put together natural, and not an "I just rolled out of bed" natural.

  • Primer: I use NYX Photo-Loving Primer. The job of your primer is to prepare your palette (making your skin a smooth surface for the makeup you will be applying) and to ensure that your makeup stays on for the most part of your day. You don't need a lot, a little dab the size of a dime will be just enough to cover your face completely.
  • Concealer: I use the Smashbox Full Coverage Camera ready concealer, which is a little more expensive. This concealer is great! I've had my fair share of trying concealers and the Smashbox brand covers up all my dark spots and blemishes so effortlessly and easy. It's in a roll on tube therefore it goes on really light, and I don't need a ton to cover up those little areas that I have on my face. This is important as it doesn't clump up like other liquid concealer brands, and it doesn't dry your face out. Concealer is much like foundation and should match closely to your skin tone. If not, its okay to go a little bit darker.
  • BB Cream: I use the Pacifica BB cream which I've shared reviews on here. BB Creams are basically a tinted moisturizer which protect, soothe and prime your skin. I love that they aren't heavy like some foundations. Most of the time I forget that I even have anything on! You really have to experiment with different brands, until you find your perfect match. Most BB creams are made to blend well with the skin, and are able to provide you with that clean, finished look which evens out your skin tone
  • All- Over Color Stick: The ELF brand All-Over Color Stick is just a sheer stick which can brighten up those areas of your face that still look asleep after you've done your Morning skin care routine. For me, that's usually my eyes. So, after applying my primer, concealer and BB Cream, I'll roll the Color Stick underneath my eyes kind of on my cheek bones because they are so high lol for a little extra awakening!
  • Blush: Blushes give you that extra pop of color to bring your skin and cheeks all the way to life. I stick with lighter peachier shades, but blush tones fluctuate according to your skin tone. This is the NYX blush color Pinched
  • Bronzer:I don't find it necessary to spend a ton on bronzer. You can buy prestige brand bronzers but the cheaper brands like Rimmel work just as well. I just like to have that extra shimmer and natural skin glow to enhance and finish off my natural look. I use the Rimmel London Natural Bronzer
  • Mascara: I've always been a huge fan of CoverGirl products and I love all of their mascaras. But, CoverGirl Lash Blast is ALWAYS my go to! It doesn't clump, and it really lengthens and accentuates the lashes that I don't have lol.
  • Eyeliner: I used NYX Pure White Eye Liner in this look to open up my eyes. I have smaller, almond shaped eyes so I apply the eyeliner in the inner part of my eyes to give the illusion that they are bigger than what they really are. It works wonders!
  • Lipstick: At first thought, you might think that lipstick is a far cry from "natural" and you may want to go with a more nude natural shade. By all means go for it! But I love the way a bold lip can give you that extra umph and can just make all the difference when you running on E, and you just want a little pick me up! This is NYX Butter Lipstick color "Hunk."
Voila! Excuse my messy bun! But, here is the finished look. 5 min! Quick and easy!

I know this post is really lengthy, but I just wanted to be extensive as possible in describing the products and how they work for me! Most products can be found at your local Target or Ulta beauty. Hope you guys can incorporate this into your every day routine!

More of YOU Mondays! Sanity in the Stillness

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a fab weekend! I feel like I'm in need of a tropical getaway especially after all the snow and ice that hit Charlotte last week. The LAST thing that I want to see is snow, at least not for another year.

Also, I've just had a lot on my mind which could be another reason that I'm in need of a vaca. Life is so crazy! There is always something going on, places to be, people to see,  errands that need to be run, and decision making seems endless. Most days, my thoughts are going 1000 mph, and I have to force myself to just sit down and get quiet. If I didn't have those quiet moments, Lord knows I would go crazy.

There is sanity in the stillness.

I had a little bit of quiet time early Saturday morning. After having to make some big decisions recently, it was definitely much needed and long overdue. I took a moment to reflect on everything that I want for my life. All my dreams, my ambitions, ideas and really at the core of it all, just wanting to be what God has called me to be. Don't we all want to know the answer to that question?

We have an innate desire within us to live lives bursting full of purpose, success and happiness. But, is that what God wants for us?

YES, of course! Every single one of us was put on this Earth to serve a purpose. Everyone was uniquely designed and created by a big God with big dreams and plans for each of us. He finds joy in bringing us all the things that our hearts desire. All of those things & MORE. He knows about that dream job, that big family you are hoping for, that relationship, that vision to touch a life through ministry, etc. He knows and understands. To know that my God delights in giving me all that I want, need and more brings me such overwhelming comfort, peace and satisfaction.

You might think, "how could there possibly be more?!" Oh, there is. All of those wonderful dreams, plans, thoughts and visions are waiting to unfold in His precious and perfect timing. His purpose in fulfilling all that we hope for is ultimately to be glorified in it all. Through his fulfillment, and through His gracious giving we become walking, living, breathing testimonies of His relentless power. Our purpose is to be a testimony. God orchestrates our lives, and He is solely focused on placing those intricate puzzle pieces together so that He gets all of the glory.

Dwelling on thoughts of your dreams is a good thing. It's healthy that you are being conscious and intentional in the life God has given you. But, don't lose sight of the one who has control of it all. He sees the beautiful masterpiece that is called your life.

I encourage you today to sit in His stillness and give Him all that you dream of and all that you want to accomplish. Surrender your plans to Him, and watch Him show out. The best part about it is that stress & worry ARE NOT ALLOWED. Leave those guys behind, and trust Him.

Reinvention of SAM & LIBBY- Look #3

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! The sun is out and the snow is finally starting to melt in North Carolina. Thank goodness! I was starting to get cabin fever. ha! Anyways, I'm so glad that the city is starting to slowly come back to life, especially today of all days....a day of love! Although this day may be bittersweet for some of you, just remember to show love and give love to those who have chosen to be a part of your life and show yourself love by treating yourself to a new outfit! :) That's what I would do anyway. lol.

Our last styled look in our three day series is paired with these bad boys! Or should I say girls ;) The Sam & Libby Dahlia Spiked Heel Two Piece PumpThey are so sleek, sexy and FIERCE.

Oh for the love of studs and spikes! This pump is  basically to die for and would be great to wear for a romantic Valentine's day dinner. You could also probably get away with these little guys in corporate America or to add a little spice to a casual day look. I love the versatility they offer! So grabbing these was a total no brainer.
It's most fitting to rock shades of pinks and reds on Valentines Day! I decided to have a little fun with many different soft and electric shades of pink! And, because black is so timeless, I decided on this color collab! Obviously, I've been very into the more edgier look these days. I'm not sure what's gotten into me but I'm kind of loving it! This is not the "typical" Valentines day date look, BUT I'm one who is open to experimenting and stepping outside of the box to try new things. So, styling this look was so much fun!
I am in love with this Forever 21 blush pink motto jacket that I scored for $4 at the Goodwill. I paired it with this kaleidoscope crop top from Marshalls which has splashes of dark grey, orange and neon pinks.
If you thought the skirt looked familiar, then you were right! It's from my first look earlier this week which can be found here. This nude clutch with neon pink detail is also a thrift find from Buffalo Exchange. I love how big and roomy it is and that how it adds another unique touch of pink to this Valentine's Day look. Throw your hair up into a high bun and there you have it! A soft, elegant, classy Valentine's day look with a little hint of sass ;)

Blush Pink Motto Jacket: Goodwill- Forever 21. Black Sheer Mesh Midi Skirt: Marshalls. Kaleidoscope Crop Top: Marshalls. Pumps: Sam & Libby Target. Clutch: The Buffalo Exchange

I hope you guys have enjoyed this three day series featuring the Sam & Libby Brand from Target!  The next time you're in Target, you should check them out!

Reinvention of SAM & LIBBY-Look #2

This snow storm is NO joke ya'll! I hope that everyone is staying warm and spending much needed time with your loved ones! What have you guys been doing to keep yourselves entertained while being snowed in?

My sister and I got the chance to play around with some different makeup looks last night, played some card games, and loaded up on lots of cozy coffee/hot chocolate and Kettle corn. It's been perfect! I love getting to spend time with her, and she's even showed me up on my photography skills. I have her to thank for the awesome pictures you guys see posted on the blog :) If you're reading this Danielle, THANK YOU! you are the absolute best! Now lets get to it!

Next up in our Sam & Libby styled looks are the Sam & Libby Selena Ankle Booties.

My obsession with all things animal print is ummm a bit out of control, maybe? HA! NOT. I love animal print and any chance that I get to wear it, is a happy day indeed. Needless to say, when I saw these at Target, even though I have a ton of printed shoes in my closet already...I just had to have them! Plus, for $11. Yeah, justified. LOL. I love these little booties and like the Kaye Buckle Boots they are uber comfortable.
Also, I did some more pattern mixing and I love the red plaid print with the animal print. If you are nervous about mixing prints, its best to start off simple with these two patterns together or with the camo print and animal print together. Just give it a try. I promise there will be no turning back!
My gloves are red, with red leather detail. They are vintage and SO SO cute! Thank you mommy! lol I'm pretty sure these are an 80's throwback but they are perfect for this cozy, winter wonderland look.
A winter coat is a must to endure these harsh temps! This is the coat that I mentioned in my Cozy Chic  post a couple weeks ago. It's a black wool trenchie with big, silver button detail from Forever 21. To complete the look, I threw on this cozy toffee colored, wool floppy hat that I got from Versona for only $4 on clearance last year!
Black Wool Trenchie: Forever 21. Leather leggings: Marshalls. Animal Print Booties:  Sam & Libby. Plaid Button Down: Target. Floppy Hat: Versona.

Reinvention of SAM & LIBBY- Look #1

It seems like its been FOREVER since I've even heard or seen the brand Sam & Libby anywhere! Like ages. Ok, maybe not ages but its been a minute. lol. Anyways, I was on one of my weekly trips to Target when I stumbled upon the recently launched exclusive Sam & Libby collection. The shoe styles are super cute, comfy, stylish AND affordable! They have completely transformed and reinvented the line, which has been around since the late 1980's (see, I knew it had been a minute! lol) and they are slaying the shoe game at Target right now.

More of YOU Mondays! Loving YOU 101

Happy Monday all! It's that time of year again! Valentines Day is upon us and "love is in the air!" Some of you ladies might be dreading Friday, as it may serve as a reminder that "you have no one!","you're never going to find anyone!" and "you're going to be Valentines-less for eternity!" Cue pity party! lol False, False, and False. I know, because I've been THAT girl on so many occasions, saying those exact same things. Now that I think about it, I sounded so ridiculous. lol.
I'm sure that I haven't been alone in those moments of wondering when, where and how "Mr. Right" would just fall into my life. Falling prey to that kind of mindset is easy, especially when you live in a society which puts so much pressure and emphasis on looking for love, finding love, getting married and living happily ever after (thank you Disney!) Not only finding love, but finding that PERFECT, crystle clear version of love.

We are often times blinded by the idea and feeling of love, that we don't give ourselves the opportunities to experience the love that is so essential to living, thriving and being genuinely happy. You have to love yourself first. How are you supposed to love someone else when you can't even handle the responsibility of loving you?! You just can't. No amount of love from someone else is going to be able to fill the void, or give you the self-empowerment which comes from learning how to love yourself.

Ready? Loving yourself 101 requires that you are consciously maintaining a positive mindset (building on the true facts that you are beautiful, you are capable and more than enough! None of that "I'm not", "I can't", "I wish stuff!"), surrounding yourself with uplifting friends and family who have your best interest at heart, and having full-blown confidence and boldness in all that you have to offer the world. All of your abilities, your talents, and your one-in-a million personality are all elements that the world is waiting to experience!

Change the pace of this Valentines day by doing something special for those supportive and loving friends and family members in your life, or take a trip to Trader Joe's and treat yourself to your favorite flowers (peonies are my favorite!), chocolates or a movie with the girls. Celebrate you and those who have chosen to be apart of your life!

Makeup Bag Feng Shui!

Hey Ya'll! Happy Hump day!! Whoop! I hope everyone has been having a more than fabulous week :)

Today, I'm giving my makeup bag a complete make over. Because, you know it's time to get organized when your makeup bag looks like this...and you can't even zip up all the way! Ridiculous I know! Please don't judge lol.

I was getting SO tired of scavenging through everything in the mornings-lipsticks at the very bottom, brushes all over the place, dust from my eye shadows and blushes getting everywhere... a hot mess. LOL.  I needed some organization in my life, some ebb and flow to my morning time routine. Cause this just wasn't cutting it.

I wanted to recreate my beauty space, to do a little feng shui if you will! In doing this I hoped to cut down on my makeup routine in the AM, to create a clean space for my products and to also pacify my small dose of OCD. So, I headed over to Marshalls to purchase a beauty organizer. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, so I got this clear acrylic container with separators and mini slider drawers for $13.

I thought this would be big enough to fit all of my makeup, but what do you know, I still have some products left which will still need a place. So, I'll probably scoop another one up from Marshalls, or invest in a smaller container for the rest of my eye shadows and blushes. Overall, I love the separators and having a distinct place for my brushes, lipsticks, concealer/eye primer and foundation. I've noticed that I've been able to get ready quicker, and also just feel so much more organized and put together while getting myself ready for the day. It's nice to have one less thing to worry about when running out the door.

So, why should you clean out your makeup bag and organize?
  1. Cleaning out your makeup bag gives you the opportunity to get rid of old makeup and gives you an excuse to go all out on your next trip to Ulta! heyyy ;) lol
  2. Creates organization for your products and creates a clean, clear space for your vanity or bathroom counter. This makes getting ready easier, and stress-free!
  3. Allows you to give your makeup bag a thorough, deep cleaning in preparation for your next trip out of town.
Create a positive space for your morning time makeup routine! How do you organize your beauty products?

More of YOU Mondays!- Beauty in Gratefulness

Another weekend has come and gone. It's still so crazy to me how fast the weekends fly by, but nonetheless its time to gear up for a new week and a new month! Can you guys believe that it's February? January always feels like it drags on so I'm definitely glad to be in a new month!

I'm sure most of you that made New Years Resolutions are holding strong to them, and are chucking away at all of your goals and ambitions for 2014....right?!.. I chose not to make any resolutions for the new year, but my main focus has been to really take each day as a whole new experience and a whole new opportunity to learn about myself, to grow, and to be purposeful in my interactions with others.

Each day, we have the choice of whether or not we will be intentional in our actions, and whether or not we will grow from life's obstacles and use those experiences as building blocks for the days to come. Think about it. YOU get to decide!

In really taking responsibility of how we choose to react to life, I believe that it's so necessary to choose to be grateful for even the smallest things. Things like your next breath, having enough gas in your car to get to your next destination (the struggle is REAL sometimes lol), safe travels, a warm home... there is so much to be thankful for. Recent studies have shown that gratitude can positively effect your overall health, your mood, and even your relationships.

You always hear people say "It's the little things in life..." and it REALLY is! To be grateful is to declare that there is good in your life and that your life is filled with an abundance of wealth! Today, you may have the wealth of health, loving and supportive family and friends, new passions, and the list goes on.

Reflecting on gratefulness creates a healthy mind, and in turn a healthy and beautiful body and spirit. There is always something to be grateful for, which means there is always a means to introduce positivity within your life daily. What will you be grateful for today?
